Tour Overview

Cape Town is a port city on South Africa’s southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the Imposing Table Mountain. Slowly rotating cable cars climb to the mountain’s flat top, from which there are sweeping views of the city, the busy harbor and boats heading for Robben Island, the notorious prison that once held Nelson Mandela, which is now a living museum. A coming-together of cultures, cuisines and landscapes, there's nowhere quite like Cape Town, a singularly beautiful city crowned by the magnificent Table Mountain National Park.

Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town – A City of Contrasts Welcomes You

Touch down in Cape Town, where Table Mountain watches over a city alive with rhythm and charm. You’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your boutique hotel or luxury waterfront stay. Spend your first evening unwinding at the V&A Waterfront, soaking in harbor views with a glass of local wine and dining to the sound of street performers. The city’s vibrant energy sets the tone for the week ahead.

Day 2: Table Mountain, Bo-Kaap & City Soul

Start your morning with a cable car ride up Table Mountain, where panoramic views stretch from Robben Island to the Cape Peninsula. Descend and head to the Bo-Kaap, Cape Town’s most colorful district, where candy-hued houses and cobblestone streets echo with Cape Malay heritage. Enjoy a cultural tour and traditional cooking class here, then visit Company’s Garden, Greenmarket Square, and the District Six Museum for a soulful dive into the city’s complex history. End the evening with dinner at a jazz club or fine-dining restaurant in Kloof Street.

Day 3: Cape Peninsula – Ocean Roads & Penguin Shores

Today’s road trip is a visual feast. Travel the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point, where dramatic cliffs plunge into the sea and the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Visit the Cape of Good Hope, then stop at Boulders Beach to walk among a charming colony of African penguins. Enjoy a coastal lunch in Simon’s Town, and end the day watching surfers ride the waves at Muizenberg Beach. Return to Cape Town in time for a relaxed sunset dinner.

Day 4: Robben Island & Waterfront Vibes

Sail across to Robben Island, where a former political prisoner guides you through the historic prison that once held Nelson Mandela. It’s a deeply moving experience and a cornerstone of South Africa’s journey. After returning, spend the afternoon exploring the V&A Waterfront’s art galleries, craft markets, and waterside cafes. Opt for a sunset cruise or ride the Cape Wheel for more city views. Dinner could be at a rooftop restaurant with live African music and unforgettable cityscapes.

Day 5: Stellenbosch & Winelands – Sips, Scenery & Stories

Today is all about indulgence. Head into the Cape Winelands, passing rolling vineyards and Cape Dutch estates. In Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, enjoy curated wine tastings, gourmet pairings, and cellar tours. Sip award-winning wines, stroll through quaint towns, and savor a long lunch at a vineyard estate. Return to Cape Town by evening, perhaps with a wine-loosened heart and a basket of local treats.

Day 6: Beaches & Freedom to Wander

Spend your final full day at leisure. Soak up the sun at Camps Bay or Clifton Beach, known for their golden sands and trendy cafes. Art lovers can explore Zeitz MOCAA, Africa’s largest contemporary art museum. Adventure seekers might try paragliding from Signal Hill or kayaking with dolphins along the coast. As night falls, celebrate your last evening with a farewell dinner overlooking the city skyline—Cape Town glowing beneath the stars, a kaleidoscope of memories in your heart.

Day 7: Departure – Until Next Time, Cape Town

After breakfast, enjoy one last walk on the beach or a relaxed moment soaking in your surroundings. Your private transfer will take you to the airport as you say goodbye to Cape Town—a city of layers, colors, flavors, and spirit. With stories to share and photos to frame, you return home with your soul stirred by Mamu Travels’ Cape Town: Colors Unbound experience.
